Description

This great value external dual-disk RAID drive enclosure is great for those needing performance and data safety.  You fit 2 disks of your choice, all sizes are supported including the latest 3TB disks. Using the disk in its RAID 1 Mirror configuration your data is automatically written to both disks at the same time.  If a disk failed, then your data would be safely held, and can still be accessed, on the other disk drive.

Other dual disk configurations are also possible by changing the switches on the rear of the enclosure (and pressing the config button). When in RAID 0 mode the unit appears as a single combined disk drive.  In JBOD mode both disks work independently and appear as 2 disks in Windows.  Please note that your data is lost when you switch between different RAID modes, so it must be set before you start adding data.

This product performs automatic power-saving sleeping of the disks, where the disks spin-down after a period of inactivity, and then spin back ready for use as soon as they detect needing to be used for reading/writing of data.  This saves 7W of power during inactivity instead of the normal 14W of idle power.

This product is aimed at PC users with fast USB 3.0 ports, or standard USB 2.0 ports.  You will get significantly faster performance using USB 3.0.

Windows XP (32-bit) cannot work with sizes of greater than 2TB.  Windows Vista, Windows 7 and Apple Macs do not have this limitation.
