Loads of features, but simple to use by non-techies!

Where do you start with such an impressive device?   This product amazed us when we evaluated it. The build quality is top notch,  the features are comprehensive yet easy to use.

How can you describe it?  Its headline feature is being able to watch and record freeview TV, also supporting "pause live TV".  It also can be used just like a normal external USB 2.0 disk drive.  But when connected to your network, it works as a shared file server.  And once connected to a TV and/or audio system, it acts as a top of the range media player for all your videos, photos and music.

It can play internet radio stations.   It can download BitTorrent media files.  It can browse your online Picasa & Flickr albums, and RSS news feeds.  It can copy media from a Memory Card or USB stick/external disk plugged into its USB2 port.

You can stream recorded TV programmes (e.g. set up using the Programme Guide) to any PC on your network simply by using Windows Media Player. 

It even has a neat LCD display enabling control without needing to use a TV for a display...perfect if you just want to play audio or select radio stations without using the TV.

Uses very latest Seagate LP Series disk built on perpendicular recording technology to deliver new levels of hard drive data density, capacity and reliability.

The disk drive inside is the very latest LP (Green Low Power) range, saving between 40% and 70% of power compared to standard disks.   The product is quiet and can be used in a living room.

A remote control enables the simple menu to be navigated so you can select the TV channel or media to play.   You can create playlists or slideshows, as well as just pick a movie to watch.

You can use the disk to store over 800 hours of DVD video, 2000 DivX Movies, 260,000 MP3 songs, 680,000 photos (at 6 Megapixel resolution) or as a massive disk for data or backups.

The DVB-T tuner in this product is also able to get the HD channels broadcast in mainland Europe.  In the UK the freeview HD channels use the DVB-T2 standard, which is not supported by this product.

We also stock a compatible wireless 802.11n USB dongle for the R2750.  This connects to 802.11n and 802.11g wireless networks.  It costs an extra £20 inc VAT.  Please let us know if you want to add it to your order.

Extra Information

The external media player disk is used in 4 modes.

1) Freeview TV Recorder.   Watch freeview channels, and record to the internal hard disk.  Use the timeslip feature to pause live TV. Use the EPG (programme guide) to select programs to record over the next 7 days. Dual channel recorder enables 2 channels to be recorded at the same time, or watching and recording different channels at the same time.

2) Standalone Media Player.   When detached from a PC it can be connected to a TV (using HDMI, SCART, composite video connector, or component video connectors).  You then use the remote control to select which media you want to play.

3) External USB2 Disk Drive.  You connect the disk to your PC and use it just like any other external disk drive. You can create folders and copy files onto the disk.

4) Network Disk Drive.  You connect the disk to your network router and use it as a shared network folder. You can create folders and copy files onto the disk.   Stream media (included recorded TV shows) to any PCs on your network, or from a network device to the TV.
