Where do you start with such an impressive device?   A compact unit, with massive disk and comprehensive features, this product amazed us when we evaluated it.

How can you describe it?  Well, most simply it works just like a normal external USB 2.0 disk drive.  But when connected to your network, it works as a shared file server.  And when connected to a TV and/or audio system, it acts as a top of the range media player for all your videos, photos and music.

It can play internet radio stations.   It can download BitTorrent media files.   It can copy media from a USB stick or external disk plugged into its USB2 port.  It can copy or play media from a memory card.

The disk drive inside is the very latest LP (Green Low Power) range, saving between 40% and 70% of power compared to standard disks.   The product is quiet and can be used in a living room.

A remote control enables the simple menu to be navigated so you can select the media to play.   You can create playlists or slideshows, as well as just pick a movie to watch.

Performance

The external media player disk is used in 3 modes.

1) Standalone Media Player.   When detached from a PC it can be connected to a TV (using HDMI, composite video connector, or component video connectors).  You then use the remote control to select which media you want to play.

2) External USB2 Disk Drive.  You connect the disk to your PC and use it just like any other external disk drive. You can create folders and copy files onto the disk.

3) Network Disk Drive.  You connect the disk to your network router and use it as a shared network folder. You can create folders and copy files onto the disk.   Stream media (included recorded TV shows) to any PCs on your network,  or from another network source to your TV.
